I originally said that the narrative of this convention would be the further conflation of Iraq and 9/11. Maureen Dowd said it was about making us believe Republicans are regular Joe's. But I've now realized there's another narrative thread going on here: rehearsal for Convention '08. Everyone knows Cheney won't run and so these guys are lining up: first McCain, then Giuliani, then Frist, then Romney, now Pataki. All of these guys are so obviously auditioning, and Pataki was embarrassing.
