Louisiana Same-Sex Marriage Ban

On Saturday, Louisiana voters, by a 78%-22% margin, overwhelmingly approved a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages and civil unions.

Remarkably (or perhaps, not)...

Louisiana already has a law stating that marriage can be only between a man and woman, but supporters of the amendment want to protect that law in the Constitution. The amendment also would prohibit state officials and courts from recognizing out-of-state marriages and civil unions between homosexuals.

In other news, Entertainment Tonight is confirming that, also on Saturday, Louisiana native Britney Spears, 22, got married in a secret ceremony in Studio City, CA to dancer Kevin Federline.

Marrying Federline makes Britney more than a new wife, she's also now step-mom to Federline's 2-year-old and newborn baby with "Moesha" actress Shar Jackson. This is the second marriage in nine months for the songbird. (Her first, to friend Jason Allen Alexander, was annulled only 55 hours after it began.)
She must be very pleased that her fellow Louisianians have voted to protect the sanctity of this institution that Britney clearly holds very dear.
